worldly possessions

It is sad when all you own will fit in a 10 x 24 storage unit. We have been going through stuff and I guess you can say that we are downsizing some. It will be easier when we empty the storage unit. Will take out what we need when we need it and the storage unit is close to where we are moving to. I hoped that we would have been moved by now but the weather is not cooperating. Now they say that the move will happen Monday. We are to be gone by the 1st of April. Will let you know when the BIG event happens.

moving day

If all goes well tomorrow they are to move our home. Was to be moved on Tuesday but the weather had other plans. Today RJ and I dismantled our double carport and moved it on a trailer to Topeka. We still have a few things left in the trailer but I am getting too tired to move anything else. I want to go to bed early tonight because I have to work the next 4 days. Will have to call RJ when I get off work to see where we will be staying. Still have a few more things to move once the trailer is gone but RJ assures me that it won't be a problem. Hopefully my next blog will be from our new place.

packing to move

As you know, RJ and I are moving. It wouldn't be so bad but at the same time I found a JOB! So we have been packing when I am not at work. The good news that I am off work till March 10th. Because we live in a mobile home, we have to move all of our furniture out before the move. We have been taking stuff to Topeka in his truck to a storage unit we rented. If the weather holds out, they are to move us on March 14th. Last night after we packed some boxes I realized that I had packed what I needed for work. Then I had to figure out what box it might be in. Luckily I picked the right box the first time. At least it didn't end up in Topeka. Time to go back to packing and moving.

Kansas weather

Well, here I am making my second post of the day. It is typical Kansas weather. Yesterday was beautiful in Wichita. Had a great time. Today we are having snow and sleet. Here is a view from our front window. Spring has got to be coming soon.

Great women in my life

Yesterday RJ and I went to Wichita to see Carrie and her family. They are here for the week from Boston. It was so good to see them. I hated to leave there more than when we went to see them in Boston in October. But the good news is that they will be back in about 4 months. So the countdown has started. Here is a picture of the  great women in my life.

our future homesite

Well, today we went to pick out where we want our home. This was the best lot to put the carport on. The front of the trailer will face the street like it does now. Our home will be one of the first homes that you will see when you enter the park from the east entrance. This picture was taken half way up the hill behind the lot. There will not be anyone in our back yard because of the hill. The small stump in the front of the lot is to be removed and they said that I could plant a blazing maple in the front like I have here. spring cleaning

I have been hit with spring fever. Since we are planning on moving soon, I have started to go through some stuff. I started in the kitchen today. Rearranged my cabinets and threw away 3 bags of trash. I still have some cabinets to go through but it is looking better. I should have less to pack when I am done. What a great feeling.
